Porkie Pancake Breakfast!
Hundreds of people - young and old - enjoyed the sweet treat of real maple syrup and helped celebrate the dedication of the new 1000 Islands Sugar Shack on Saturday, March 20th. Guided hikes let us experience the process of making maple syrup from start to finish.

SPECIAL NOTICE ABOUT GIRL SCOUT PROGRAMS

With regret, 1000 Islands Environmental Center is not able to conduct Brownie Try-It or Girl Scout Badge programs or clinics at this time due to the recent changes in Girl Scout programming rules. New rules prohibit us from advertising on the GSNWGL Council website without paying fees. We cannot afford the fees or the cost to advertise in the Source. It's just not in our budget to do so at this time. New rules also dictate that we must supply lesson plans and realign our nature-based programs to conform with the new GS program changes. We do not have staff available to modify our programs or the dollars needed to purchase the many books required to accomplish these changes.

We will be happy to consider accommodating your troop with a program or hike that is not specific to Badges or Try-Its but may indirectly meet some of the requirements within those two programs. Our ability to do so will depend on the availability of a naturalist during the time you wish to come to the Center. While we will do our best, there is no guarantee a naturalist will be available.

Troops are welcome to attend public programs with their troop. Please pre-register to let us know how many girls you may be bringing. You may also visit the Environmental Center on your own any time during business hours at no charge. A call ahead is always appreciated. Staff is not responsible for meeting your adult to girl chaperone ratio.
